Ergonomic Guide for Schools in India

Contrary to the popular understanding, ergonomics is not just about chairs, it deals with broader aspects of better learning in the school environment. Schools in India are facing environmental challenges that disrupt the school programme every now and then and this guide intends to help schools identify ways of dealing with those.

The broad infrastructure required for schools is prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and standards for school buildings are covered by the National Building Code. BIS 4837 and BIS 4838 provide guidance for the type of furniture to be used in the school. This guide is to deal with aspects of ergonomics that are left out of these documents.
