About Us
Opus Indigo is a fresh perspective on furniture.
The principle that there exists a deep, inalienable connection between humans and their environment mandates a holistic approach to design. The look, feel and
functionality of furniture produced at Opus Indigo reflect this understanding.
We believe that to deliver a product that originates from this uncommon philosophy requires an unusual approach. It is also our belief that design needs to
adapt to changing use and users. Our constant and regular interactions with our customers lead to customized designs that constantly evolve to deliver
exceptionally functional, ergonomic and environmentally-sensitive furniture.
We believe that is how all furniture will be made in the future.

Design Philosphy
Opus Indigo's design philosophy emanates from the recognition that today's workplace has changed from the days of paper, typewriters and telexes. It realizes
that the modern office is built around the computer, email and internet. The computer not only changed the workplace but also how people work, sit and interact.
Opus Indigo also understood that people are spending long hours hunched, perched and slouched in front of computer screens. It studied and researched computer
workstations around the world to conclude that inadequate thought in the design of such workstations has led to a host of new lifestyle ailments like
low-back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and deep-vein thrombosis.
These workstations were and strangely still are, so to say, an evolution of the typewriter table. No serious design thought was given to correct posture,
right screen height or how the individual really uses the computer. So, trays were added to keep keyboards, castors were added to chairs to let people
move effortlessly from computer to printer to paper etc. It was even assumed that paper work would vanish and so computer tables were designed with very
little space for paper. Similarly, little thought was given when conventional CRT screens became become bigger or were replaced by flat LCD screens.
In contrast to the earlier work environment, email and instant messaging, obviated the need for people to move to talk, clarify and discuss issues. Thus,
people ended up spending inordinately long hours in front of their screens, sitting incorrectly with little or no physical movement.
Having understood these shortcomings of modern offices, Opus Indigo decided to adopt basic principles of good ergonomics and sustainability in its furniture
for the modern workplace.
Thus Opus Indigo furniture is customisable, adaptable and efficient in material usage. It delivers good ergonomics through correct monitor height, proper
sitting posture, discouraging inactivity and increased personal work area. It increases usage of comparatively-more-sustainable materials and allows furniture
to recycled and reused.
A large number of international studies have shown that correct furniture ergonomics, has a direct impact on organisational productivity because it provides
a better work enviroment, leading to reduction in lifestyle ailments.

Vision & Mission
Our vision is to create sustainable and healthy work environments using holistic design principles.
Opus Indigo intends to realize this vision through office furniture based on sustainable and ergonomically-sensitive practices
Opus Indigo intends to realize this vision through office furniture based on sustainable and ergonomically-sensitive practices
Conventional interpretation of the term a ' good work place' generally means a well designed building, good work culture, nice boss, good lighting,
efficient heating/cooling etc. Of late, the need to score on the 'green quotient' has meant inclusion of some green elements in the building.
However, rarely is there a focus on the relationship between the individual and office furniture with its concomitant impact on employee health and
productivity. This correlation between health, productivity and ergonomic furniture has become even more important in the present computer-centric workplace.
Opus Indigo's mission is to bridge this chasm by bringing ergonomic and sustainable furniture to the marketplace while introducing a new aesthetic to office
work environment that focuses on individual health and productivity.

Team
Opus Indigo's mission is to bring about a change in the way the modern office sees furniture. Since we understand the correlation between the work environment, the individual, health and productivity, we realise that to accomplish this vision, we require a mutli-disciplinary team.
Accordingly, over the last several years, Opus Indigo has engaged with some of India's leading industrial engineers, architects, designers, orthopedists, exercise physiologists, and environmental engineers to come up with exceptional value-for-money furniture designs. Simultaneously, we have installed hundreds of furniture pieces in the industry, interacted with users, studied global practices, and held workshops to develop our furniture.
As part of this multi-discplinary approach, currently Opus Indigo licenses its designs from one of India's leading sustainable design and architectural firms, Space Design Consultants.(www.space-design.com)
